Task Force Considering Collaborations

By Jeremy Thacker

Connect Nevada is helping foster exciting progress toward broadband expansion across the state and plans were made to further that expansion during January’s Task Force meeting in Carson City.

Twenty-six members of the state Task Force explored ideas about possible broadband project collaborations. One proposal would team up Connect Nevada with the Department of Defense in areas of the state where the military is currently operating. Task Force members were also presented with a potential project opportunity with the Solace Tree. The center for grieving children, teens, and families is looking to Connect Nevada to help it extend grieving services remotely across the state.

Connect Nevada’s past research projects mapping broadband access and adoption throughout the state were also discussed. Task Force members reviewed some of the initiative’s past findings with a focus on ways to develop more specific research plans that will help initiate more rapid broadband growth in the future.

The next Nevada Broadband Task Force meeting will be scheduled for some time in February.
